This was reported by the CHESTNO Movement.
Derkach’s candidacy was supported by the governor of the Astrakhan region, Igor Babushkin, writes the Russian agency TASS.
Babushkin indicated that Derkach has Russian citizenship and lives in Astrakhan.
At the same time, the former deputy remains wanted at the request of Ukraine.
In 2023, NABU and SAP sent a case to court against Andriy Derkach for high treason and illegal enrichment.
It must discredit Ukraine on the international stage, worsen diplomatic relations with the United States and hinder Ukraine’s integration into the European Union and NATO.
The investigation established that Derkach received no less than 567 thousand dollars for subversive activities against Ukraine.
Derkach’s Ukrainian citizenship was revoked in January 2023 by decree of President Volodymyr Zelensky.
