We are making changes to the Kanivska PSPP construction project. It should be inaccessible to the enemy. Therefore, there are plans to build it underground, – said the general director of Ukrhydroenergo Igor Sirota in a conversation with Liga.
The biggest challenges for energy workers are to recover as quickly as possible, protect facilities and think about the future, he emphasizes:
We must build infrastructure that is sustainable.
Sirota also said that it is impossible to destroy the Kyiv hydroelectric power station with a missile strike.
If we hypothetically imagine a breach, basements may be flooded. At most, the water will reach the first floors. The flood zone is an area more than 100 meters from the river. People often build 10-15 meters away, says the CEO of Ukrhydroenergo.
Statements about “preparing a terrorist attack” at the Kyiv and Kanev hydroelectric power stations, which Russia has begun to spread, are manipulative techniques, he believes.
The share of hydropower generation in the overall energy system of Ukraine is 10-11%.
No energy system in the world has experienced such challenges as the Ukrainian one. I must use the experience gained to strengthen our energy system as much as possible, Sirota said.
