“Using his official position, he systematically demanded additional fees from those wishing to obtain a foreign passport. He created obstacles for those who refused to pay: he demanded unnecessary documents or refused service due to alleged absence of people in the electronic queue, operatives of the National Police Department of Internal Affairs and investigators of the Ukrainian State Security Service in the Volyn region documented the official’s illegal activities and detained him while accepting another bribe,” the report said.
For corrupt transactions, the defendant faces up to 10 years in prison.
Earlier it was reported that the judge of the Economic Court of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, Vladimir Bulko, who was exposed by NABU in 2018 for taking a bribe of 5 thousand euros, was sentenced to six years in prison with the confiscation of all of property.
