    .

On July 25, the Odessa Port Plant (OPP) held a tender for the purchase of 250 million cubic meters of natural gas by the end of the year for the amount of 4.1 billion UAH, writes the public page “Monopolist”.

The results of the auction are not yet known.

Natural gas is a raw material for the production of ammonia, which in turn is used to produce nitrogen fertilizers – urea and ammonium nitrate.

In addition, on July 29, OPZ posted a message on its Facebook page about recruiting production workers and laboratory technicians for the technical control department.

OPZ is a state-owned chemical enterprise specializing in the production of ammonia, urea, and liquid nitrogen.

OPZ also operates a sea transshipment of ammonia, which is the final destination of the Tolyatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline.

Currently, OPZ belongs to the State Property Fund (SPF) and is being prepared for privatization.

The plant effectively stopped producing ammonia back in 2021 due to high natural gas prices.

Before that, for several years I worked on tolling schemes, where I processed gas from other companies, giving them my products.

With the start of the large-scale Russian invasion, the plant on February 24, 2022, stopped all production processes, including the transshipment of ammonia from the pipeline due to the danger of missile strikes on ammonia storage facilities.

In February 2024, the head of the State Property Fund, Vitaly Koval, said in an interview that Odesa Port Plant was working in non-core areas: it produces oxygen and nitrogen and handles grain.

We do not rule out the possibility of launching the Odesa Port Plant in its core business, Koval said at the time.
