A volunteer from Slovakia, Rastislav Gajdošik, probably died at the front. It was reported by Dennis N.
It was noted that 40-year-old Gaidosik from Bratislava with the English call sign Rusty (Rusty), a volunteer who fought for Ukraine, was officially considered missing.
Gaidoshik is a deputy platoon commander in the ranks of the International Legion.
According to Russian Telegram channels, he allegedly died near Staromayorsky in the Donetsk region on June 17, the same possible date given by his brothers.
As you know, Staromayorskoye was occupied from the first days of a large-scale war, it was liberated in July 2023, and in mid-June was partially under the control of the Russian army.
At the time of his disappearance, Gaidoshik was in territory now controlled by the Russians.
Friends have already placed a Slovak flag with the name on the Maidan, along with thousands of flags in memory of the victims.
The Slovak Foreign Ministry, at the request from the media, said that they know nothing about it.
Rastislav Gaidoshik came as a volunteer to defend Ukraine almost from the first days of a full-scale war. In his public interviews, he explained his motivation by saying that if Ukraine was defeated, Russia could attack Poland, Slovakia or the Baltic states. During this time, he was wounded several times and received awards. In 2022, he took part in the offensive operation to liberate the Kharkov region, and in the spring of 2023 – in the defense of Bakhmut. In March 2024, he extended his contract.
Gaidoshik found a girlfriend in Ukraine, and they plan to formalize the relationship this year.
We remind you that a volunteer and combat medic from Great Britain, Peter Fouche, died at the front in Ukraine.
It was previously reported that a volunteer from the Netherlands had died in Ukraine. The man fought in the International Legion and died on May 20 near Chasovoy Yar.
