Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland Teofil Bartoszewski, after statements directed against Poland, expressed doubt about the need for Hungary’s membership in the European Union and NATO. He emphasized that Poland, after a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, does not conduct business from Russia, “since this was an attack on Poland, as well as on the United States, on the European Union and on NATO.” This is reported by the RAP agency.
I don’t really understand why Hungary wants to remain a member of organizations that they don’t like so much and allegedly treat them badly. Why shouldn’t it form an alliance with Putin and some authoritarian states of this type? It’s on the principle that if you don’t want to be a member of some club, you can always leave. This is certainly Hungary’s anti-European, anti-Ukrainian, anti-Polish policy at the moment, Bartoszewski said.
The diplomat also recalled that Budapest is also blocking 467 million euros from the European Peace Fund, assigned to Poland by the EU to compensate for military equipment received by Ukraine.
Let us recall that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated the day before that the Polish government “is pursuing the most hypocritical and sanctimonious policy in all of Europe” because it allegedly “shamelessly does business” with the aggressor country Russia.
