US President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the election in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris changed the election race.
The Kremlin and its supporters believe that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump could win the US election if Biden stayed in the race. However, his refusal to participate in the elections was a blow to many of them. The Washington Post writes about it on Friday, July 26.
“If Kamala Harris wins the election, it will be a big disappointment for the Kremlin,” said Tatyana Stanova, founder of R.Politik, a Russian political consultancy now based in France.
He added that if he comes to power in the United States, “all windows of opportunity for Russia will close tightly.”
“Trump’s statements that he could end the war in Ukraine in one day suggested that he could force Kyiv to give up its territory,” Stanova explained.
According to the publication, although Biden has sent unprecedented military and financial aid to Ukraine, Russian foreign policymakers view him as a potential player who does not risk escalating direct military action in Russia and respects the fact that the Russian Federation has a large nuclear arsenal.
Harris is largely unknown to the Russians and viewed with concern.
Republican candidates for the positions of US President and Vice President Trump and Vance will abandon Ukraine in favor of Russia, said US Senator Mark Kelly, who, if Harris wins, could become US Vice President.
