The collusion of top officials led to Centrenergo’s losses of almost UAH 12 million. The company was forced to buy coal at high prices
Under the procedural guidance of SAPO prosecutors, NABU detectives reported suspicions of abuses against three people, who, in the context of the energy crisis that arose as a result of the invasion of the Russian Federation , caused millions in losses to one of the largest energy generation companies. in Ukraine. This was reported by the SAPO press service on Friday, July 26.
Suspicions are currently reported:
-
former Deputy Minister of Energy;
-
former people’s representative, former first deputy chairman of the committee on construction, urban planning, housing and community services and regional policy, the real owner of a private company;
-
former director of State Enterprise Ukrugol.
In July 2022, the government obliged Ukrugol to supply coal to certain power producers, including PJSC Centrenergo.
Despite the existing restrictions, the real owner of the company, in collusion with the ex-deputy minister, persuaded the director of Ukrugl to sell coal to his company, which at the time of the sale already had a debt. As a result, the private company received about 24 thousand tons of coal, which was then resold at an inflated price, earning UAH 20 million.
At the same time, Centerenergo did not receive 12.5 thousand tons of coal, then bought it at a significantly inflated price. This caused damage to the company of almost UAH 12 million.
A pre-trial investigation is currently underway.
Let us remind you that the General Director of the municipal corporation Kievavtodor and four other people are aware of the suspicion of causing 10 million Hryvnia of damage during road repairs in the capital of Ukraine.
