Rosselkhoznadzor discovered pesticides in the products immediately after the completion of Armenian-American military exercises.

Russia announced a five-fold excess of pesticides on fruits and vegetables from Armenia. This was reported by the press service of Rosselkhoznadzor on Friday, July 26.

“Products accompanied by Armenian phytosanitary certificates contain quarantined items for the Eurasian Economic Union. 98 cases of exceeding the maximum permissible level of residual content of pesticides and agrochemicals were also recorded,” the message said.

The Russian department clarified that for some substances the standard is exceeded 5-8 times.

Since the beginning of the year, 73.9 thousand tons of fruits and vegetables were imported to the Russian market from Armenia. The main amount is accounted for by apricots (28.8 thousand tons), apples (12.4 thousand tons), tomatoes (8.7 thousand tons), pepper (5.7 thousand tons).

Rosselkhoznadzor said that almost half of the regulated products imported from Armenia to Russia in 2024 were not presented for phytosanitary control.

It is noteworthy that Russia discovered pesticides in Armenian products immediately after the completion of the Armenian-American military exercise Eagle Partner 2024, which lasted 10 days in the country and ended on July 24.

Earlier, Armenian authorities signed a contract for the purchase of the Caesar self-propelled artillery system with France and suspended membership in the CSTO.
