In particular, Ukrainian units are involved near the village of Krynki and on the islands in this area. At the same time, the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Krynki were completely destroyed as a result of intensive, prolonged enemy shelling and airstrikes. The village itself was also almost completely destroyed. This was stated by the spokesman for the operational-strategic group of forces “Tavria” Dmitry Likhovoy in a commentary to “Krym.Realii”.
According to him, there is no possibility of defending itself in the settlement itself, therefore the Ukrainian Armed Forces are in other specific positions and bridgeheads, as well as on the left bank of the Dnieper.
Likhovoy noted that throughout the operational zone of the Tavria command post, the Dnieper direction is “the hottest, but enemy assaults occur there relatively daily.”
There are comparatively more of them compared to other sections of our combat line in our operational zone, but these figures are measured in numbers three to four per day, sometimes two. Sometimes there can be about ten… This is a little less intensity than before, but the Russians continue to try to advance to these bridgeheads of ours, but they remain unsuccessful, the speaker said.
Let us recall that on July 16, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the Defense Forces had to retreat from Urozhayne and Krynki because it no longer made sense to hold positions there due to the large-scale destruction. Therefore, the defenders retreated to save lives.
