Experts said that last week one power unit of the South Ukraine NPP stopped working due to a problem with a transformer. Power unit No. 2 was temporarily stopped because the electrical protection was triggered. This was reported on July 26 by the press service of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The agency noted that a short circuit damaged a ceramic insulator, which led to a leak of burning grease. After the electrical connection was restored, the power unit was restarted.
Unit 2 began supplying electricity to the grid approximately 17 hours later and reached full capacity almost 24 hours after the shutdown.
Information that due to abnormal heat at the South Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant three current transformers burned out in three days began to appear on July 18.
At the same time, the Ministry of Energy noted that all nuclear power plants in the controlled territory were operating in normal mode. Energy Minister German Galushchenko said that the statements about an accident at the nuclear power plant were a “Russian fake.”
Let us recall that after the peace summit in Switzerland, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the deoccupation of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant was approaching. The “atomka” will be dismissed through diplomatic means and a step-by-step plan will be developed for this.
