An agent of the aggressor country, on assignment from Russian intelligence, committed a series of arson attacks – The attacker tried to destroy eight electrical substations and one relay cabinet in different places in the Uman district. In this way, the enemy planned to cut off power to a large part of the community and block railway traffic in the region. This was reported on July 26 by the press center of the Security Service of Ukraine.
It turned out that the enemy was working for a 20-year-old local resident who was looking for “easy money” on the Internet. The attacker first established the locations of the “necessary” energy facilities and prepared the tools to commit the crime.
Law enforcement officers documented how he broke into transformer substations to pour gasoline on technological equipment and set it on fire. The accomplice of the occupiers was detained at the final stage of the sabotage. During the search, a canister of gasoline and a mobile phone with the aggressor were found on him.
The detainee was charged under Part 2 of Article 113 (sabotage committed under martial law) and Part 2 of Article 194-1 (deliberate damage to power facilities) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Let us recall that in the Kharkiv region, the SBU detained a railway worker who was “leaking” military echelon routes to a Russian GRU chatbot. The perpetrator turned out to be an assistant driver at the locomotive depot of the regional branch of Ukrzaliznytsia.
