The Commander of the Air Force of the WMD, Nikolai Oleshchuk, reported in his Telegram channel that three “shahids” were lost after crossing the state border with Romania.
Romania’s Defense Ministry said parts of what appeared to be a Russian drone were found in an uninhabited area near the village of Plauru in Tulcea County, across the Danube River from the Ukrainian port of Izmail.
Romanian Foreign Minister Luminita Odobescu said she had informed allies about the incident and was coordinating her further actions.
Romanian news site G4Media published a photo of what appears to be the wreckage of the Shahed lying on the ground in Romania.
NATO has already responded to this news. A representative of the Alliance said that there is no evidence of a deliberate attack on NATO territory, noting the “irresponsible and potentially dangerous” cases of Russian drones intruding into Romanian airspace, SkyNews reports.
The Alliance has stepped up monitoring and surveillance measures, including air patrols, in recent days, the spokesman said.
While NATO has no information to indicate that Russia is deliberately attacking Alliance territory, these actions are irresponsible and potentially dangerous, the statement said.
