Freund’s campaign aims to boycott Hungary’s six-month presidency of the EU Council.
German Green Party MEP Daniel Freund, known for his criticism of Hungary, accused an attempted cyber attack using spyware two weeks before the European Parliament elections in June. Politico wrote this on Thursday, July 25.
Freund noted that he was able to divert the attack to his email.
He suggested that if the cyber attack is successful, he will be under complete surveillance, as his phone is always with him, and the attackers will be able to track all his actions. While he doesn’t specifically blame Hungary, he believes this option is the most likely.
A Hungarian government spokesman declined to comment.

Let’s recall that the Greek Court of Appeal sentenced a former employee of the Turkish consulate to five years in prison on espionage charges.
