Previously, the sailing ship Standart was not allowed in the French port of Brest to participate in the festival.
Russian sailing frigate Standard was not allowed to attend the celebration in the Spanish port of Vigo. This is what the captain of the ship, Vladimir Martus, wrote to Radio Liberty on Wednesday, July 24.
According to the captain, the sailboat, with 15 people on board, including three teenagers, is not allowed in Spanish ports. There were three to four days’ worth of food left on the ship.
“It is not clear what to do now, standing at anchor, we need to understand where we are going,” said the Russian.
Previously, the Standart was not allowed in the French port of Brest for the maritime festival, which took place July 12-17.
The ban on entering the ports was adopted in connection with the European Union’s 14th package of sanctions against Russia, which applies to historical replica ships.
34-meter wooden three-masted frigate Standard is a copy of the 1703 frigate built by Peter the Great. It was launched in 1999.
We remind you that on June 24, EU countries introduced the 14th package of sanctions against Russia. Correspondent.net analyzed in detail what the new package of restrictions contains and which of the new measures will hurt the Russian economy and its citizens.
