The commander-in-chief said the planes had to stay “40 km or more” from the front because of the risk of being shot down by the Russian Federation.
The F-16 fighters to be transferred to Ukraine will assist the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but they will have limitations on the front. This was said by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, in an interview with the British publication The Guardian.
According to him, the F-16 will strengthen Ukraine’s air defense and allow Kyiv to act more effectively against Russian cruise missiles and accurately hit ground targets.
However, there are limitations to the F-16’s capabilities. In particular, they had to stay “40 km or more” from the front line because of the risk of being fired upon by Moscow.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that Ukraine needs at least 128 F-16 fighters to create effective competition for Russia in the air.
