The secretary of the parliamentary committee on national security issues, Roman Kostenko, told about this in a comment to Ukrainska Pravda.
3.8 thousand prisoners are already in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Most of them have recently completed their training. But among them there are already wounded and dead, Kostenko noted.
According to the MP, the demand for mobilization into the Armed Forces of Ukraine among prisoners has decreased – the majority of motivated people have already joined the service. According to Kostenko, it will be possible to mobilize about 5 thousand prisoners into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Kostenko also expressed the opinion that it is necessary to create an opportunity to mobilize citizens in pretrial detention centers. In his opinion, this will allow even more people to be involved in the service.
Let us recall that on May 8, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law providing for the voluntary mobilization of certain categories of prisoners.
