Steel production in Ukraine during the reporting period increased by 36.96% – up to 3.87 million tons.
In general, the global production of pig iron in the first half of the year decreased by 1.79%, up to 704 million tons, steel – by 0.01%, up to 954.7 million tons.
It was noted that the global steel production in January-June 2024 was 954.62 million tons, which was 0.01% lower than in January-June 2023 (954.74 million tons).
China remains the world leader in terms of iron and steel smelting rates. The share of Chinese cast iron in global production for the 6 months of 2024 is 61.9%, and steel – 55.6%.
Remind you that in Ukraine in January-May, steel production reached 3.14 million tons. This is 31.2%, or 747 thousand tons, higher compared to the same period last year.
As reported, last year Ukraine rose from 26th to 25th place in the Worldsteel global ranking.
