In Croatia, at least six people were killed by a gunman who opened fire on a nursing home. The BBC reported this on the evening of Monday, July 22.
It is known that five people, including an employee of the institution, were killed on the spot, another person died in the hospital.
Besides, several people were injured, four of them are in critical condition.
According to Croatian media, the suspect fled after the attack and was later arrested in a cafe, where he was found in possession of an unregistered firearm.
Croatian President Zoran Milanovic said he was shocked by the “brutal, unprecedented” mass shooting and called for “even tougher” gun laws.
Croatian authorities have not given a motive for the massacre.
Labor Minister Marin Piletic said the suspect’s mother has been living in a nursing home for 10 years.
According to unconfirmed local media reports, the man is a war veteran. He was also charged with disturbing the peace and domestic violence.
