At the end of the three-day summit, G7 leaders agreed to limit Russia’s oil prices and provide billions of dollars in food aid to avert the hunger crisis caused by the war in Ukraine.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, in recent statements on the sidelines of the G7, said a new “Marshall Plan” was needed to bring Ukraine back. DW reports.
In closing remarks at the G7 summit, Olaf Scholz, host of the summit, said that the seven leading economies in the world collectively support Ukraine and the G7 countries will add to the cost of the war for Russia.
The German Chancellor also noted that the whole world is waiting for uncertainty due to events in Ukraine.
In particular, G7 leaders agreed to set a ceiling on Russia’s oil price and provide billions of dollars worth of food aid to prevent famine caused by the war in Ukraine.
“We support the country (Ukraine – ed.) In its defense and it offers a vision for the future,” Scholz said.
The topic of Russia’s war against Ukraine is also expected to dominate the NATO summit in Madrid, where most of the G7 leaders will come from Germany.
It will be recalled that on Sunday, June 26, the three -day summit of the G7 countries began at Elmau Castle in Germany. One of the main topics of conversation was Ukraine and the war unleashed by Russia.
Earlier, the foreign ministers of the G7 countries, as well as the EU, called on Russia to unblock Ukrainian ports for grain exports.
