Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced this today, July 22, on his Telegram channel.
In addition, the city did not transfer the land under the Zelensky estate to the owner of the building. This indicates illegal use of the land for any work, – Klitschko emphasized. – Therefore, the installation of any fences around the site, the entry of any construction equipment is illegal. And the police must respond to this.
The mayor added that city authorities will also insist that law enforcement agencies identify and make public all those involved in the destruction of the estate.
The city will assist law enforcement in every possible way, provide the necessary documentation so that the investigation is objective and those held accountable, he noted.
The press service of the Kyiv police reported today that law enforcement officers are conducting investigative actions in a criminal case initiated on the fact of the illegal demolition of the Zelensky Estate
Currently, police officers are conducting searches of the owners of the house and the construction company that directly carried out the demolition of the building, according to a message published on the department’s Telegram channel.
Criminal proceedings are carried out under three articles of the Criminal Code:
- on the fact of intentional illegal destruction of cultural heritage sites (Part 2 of Article 298); unauthorized construction (Part 3 of Article 197-1);
- based on the fact of illegal actions against property that has been seized (Part 1 of Article 388).
The police note that the perpetrators, without any relevant permits, used heavy construction equipment to destroy the building, which had been seized by the court.
The police and the prosecutor’s office applied to the court three times to seize the land and the building at the specified address. However, at the request of the lawyers of the owners of the house, the court cancelled it. The last time, on January 18 and February 19, at the initiative of the police and the prosecutor’s office, a new seizure was imposed on the land and the house with a ban on any actions, the police noted.
The prosecutor’s office has taken up the investigation into the demolition of the Zelenskys’ historic estate
