This is the first time that American strategic bombers will fly from Romanian territory.
Two US Air Force B-52H strategic bombers have arrived in Romania for the first time and will now fly out of the country. This was announced by the NATO Joint Air Force Command on Monday, July 22.
The previous day, two US Air Force bombs arrived at the Romanian Mihail Cogalniceanu airbase. During the deployment, the B-52s will operate from an air base in Romania near the Black Sea coast and will be integrated with NATO members and international partners to synchronize capabilities and commitments to security in the US European Command’s area of responsibility.
This is the first time that American strategic bombers will fly from Romanian territory.
“The United States is committed to working with NATO allies in the east to provide the combined skills and coordination capabilities needed to maintain regional security and stability,” said General James Gecker.
It is noteworthy that during the flight, the American bombers were intercepted by two Russian aircraft over the Barents Sea. The planes did not change course and continued to fly on the planned route.
We previously reported that a US nuclear bomber, along with Polish fighters, flew over the Russian border.
Let’s remember that in February 2023, the United States moved strategic bombers to Europe.
