Military exercises simulating military operations against China have begun in Taiwan

The annual Han Kuang military exercise has begun in Taiwan, which this year aims to get as close as possible to real combat operations and simulate repelling Chinese attacks. It was reported by Reuters.

It was noted that this year’s exercises in Taiwan canceled elements that were mainly demonstrations, such as planned firepower demonstrations, while at the same time training at night and practicing operations in broken line conditions of communication will be intensified.

As the exercise began in the northern city of Taoyuan, outside Taipei where Taiwan’s main international airport is located, reservists gathered to receive wartime orders while civilian vans were deployed to deliver supplies.

On the same day, the military will carry out the defense of Taipei’s main port.

On the morning of July 15, Taoyuan Airport will be closed for an hour for the exercise, although a typhoon is expected to hit the island on the same day, which may delay the exercise.

Live firing will only take place on Taiwan’s remote islands, including Kinmen and Matsu, located off the coast of China.

The five-day military exercise will run parallel to the Wan’an civil defense drills, which will see streets in major cities evacuated for half an hour to simulate a Chinese missile attack, and test warning alarms will be will ring on mobile phones.

The exercise will test the creation of reserve command lines after the destruction of existing centers and the dispersal of Chinese forces attempting to break through to Taiwan’s west coast from the Chinese side.

Recall that China threatened to “crush” Taiwan’s independence. According to the Chinese minister, the Chinese army will act “resolutely” to prevent the independence of the island.
