The State Security Service (SSS) of Georgia has summoned for questioning Georgian volunteers who participated in hostilities on the side of Ukraine in the war against the Russian Federation. This was reported by Sova on Sunday, July 21.
In the Tbilisi City Court, Lasha Chigladze, an activist of the anti-occupation movement who participated in the conflict in Ukraine, was questioned.
“I was told that a year ago an investigation related to the coup d’etat was launched, and there are some questions about it: when he left, when he came from Ukraine There are general questions,” said of volunteering.
The defense attorney called this case political.
“This case is absurd, has nothing to do with the law, and Lasha was summoned today because he fought in Ukraine against Russia,” the lawyer said.
The pro-government TV channel Imedi reports that Chigladze is being investigated for allegedly plotting to overthrow the government.
Another Georgian volunteer, Nadym Khmaladze, reported that he had been summoned for questioning.
“I, Nadym Khmaladze, have been summoned by the State Security Service on charges of coup d’état and terrorism,” he said on social networks.
