At least 104 policemen and 30 journalists have been injured in clashes during protests in Bangladesh.
The death toll from student protests in Bangladesh on July 19 has risen to 50, Barron’s reports.
“We have five bodies here. People have been killed today,” said Bakchu Mia from Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Previously, 45 more deaths were recorded in student protests that began on July 16.
At least 104 police officers and 30 journalists were injured in clashes during protests in Bangladesh.
According to local television station Independent Television, 702 people were injured in clashes between student protesters and police on July 18. Clashes took place in 26 of the country’s 64 districts.
As you know, all public and private educational institutions in Bangladesh have been closed indefinitely since July 17 due to student protests against the quota system for government jobs. The protests stemmed from student anger over quotas for public sector jobs, which included a 30% quota for family members of combatants in Pakistan’s 1971 War of Independence.
