He was spotted in Solotvino, Zakarpattia Oblast, on July 10. The judge was there allegedly for the purpose of recreation, but today he was already in person at the High Anti-Corruption Court in Kyiv, journalist Oleg Novikov writes.
The SAP prosecutor asked to extend the validity of all duties, and to change the duty not to leave Ukraine without permission to not to leave Kyiv and the Kyiv region without permission.
The judges extended a number of obligations, but left the obligation not to leave Ukraine unchanged. At the same time, the presiding judge of the VAKS, Serhiy Moysak, emphasized that the SAP prosecutor may separately request that an additional obligation be imposed on Knyazev, namely: not to be in border zones. It is not yet clear whether the prosecutor will file such a motion. During the hearing, it became clear that Knyazev is still planning a trip to Odessa.
On July 10, the judge was found at a checkpoint in a car where he was a passenger. They took away his explanation about the purpose of his stay at the border. The police and the TCC were informed about the incident.
Knyazev himself, in a comment to Babel, stated that at the checkpoint they checked his documents and asked him to go with them to the department for a thorough document check.
After checking the documents, we contacted NABU and found out that I had no claims. After that, I left the border service department. Now I am in Zakarpattia and plan to continue my vacation, the judge added.
Recall that the HACC began hearing the case of a bribe of 2.7 million dollars, in which Knyazev is a defendant. At the end of January, bail of 18.1 million UAH was posted for the judge and he was released.
In May, Knyazev’s electronic bracelet was removed. He complained that he had an allergy because of the bracelet. He also stated that there was no light in his room for 6 hours, which made the bracelet ineffective.
The VAKS extended the term of Knyazev’s duties until July 27, 2024. He is obliged to:
- to appear before the prosecutor or the court upon first request;
- do not travel outside of Ukraine;
- refrain from communicating with witnesses;
- surrender passports to travel abroad.
Now Knyazev is one step away from being dismissed from his position as a judge. In June, the First Disciplinary Chamber of the VRP unanimously submitted a motion to dismiss the judge due to violation of restrictions on receiving gifts. We are talking about renting a 4-room apartment in Kyiv for 1000 UAH per month.
In the meantime, the judge accused of corruption continues to work in the Supreme Court, receives 150-200 thousand UAH per month and goes on paid vacations.
