Al Jazeera reports this, citing its sources.
According to the publication, Greece plans to maintain its defense capabilities by acquiring new and upgrading existing aircraft. In particular, a US Congressional committee has authorized the country to buy about 40 fifth-generation F-35 multirole aircraft.
Earlier, a US Congressional committee issued Greece a quota for the purchase of up to 40 new fifth-generation F-35 multirole fighters. In their opinion, the Ukrainian authorities do not hide the fact that they also want to receive these aircraft. It is noted that the Greek Air Force plans to upgrade 82 F-16 fighters to Block-70 and purchase 24 fourth-generation Dassault Rafale fighters from France.
According to sources, Greece believes that it would be better not to simply write off its aircraft, but to hand them over to the United States, where they could be modernized and transferred to Ukraine.
