Vladimir Zelensky emphasized that he is asking the Rada to consider such a bill in the near future.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky proposed that parliament consider a bill providing for the removal of state awards from traitors. He said this in a speech on July 16.
The bill proposes to amend the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and other legislative acts to remove state awards “for popularizing or propaganda of an aggressor state or committing other illegal action against Ukraine.”
“This applies to those who have received state awards of Ukraine, including Hero of Ukraineorders For merit and so on, but he did not choose Ukraine for himself – he chose the enemy and now supports Russia in one way or another, or is generally on its territory,” Zelensky said.
He added that Ukraine now needs a mechanism to deprive such people of state awards, because they deserve to be called “traitors.”
Zelensky emphasized that he is asking the Rada to consider such a bill in the near future.
We remind you that Zelensky signed the decrees granting the title Hero of Ukraine with the award of the order Gold Star 17 soldiers.
