Change of personnel in the government
Zelensky did not directly answer the question of whether Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal might lose his post in the near future. The President replied that if there are changes in the government, journalists will know about them, and also said that “we are engaged in this process” and reshuffles in the Cabinet of Ministers are possible. According to him, some changes are now being discussed with some ministers.
“Shmygal is one of the important people in our government, he is the prime minister. Of course, I also talk about things with him,” added Zelensky.
Change of Commander-in-Chief
Answering a question about the replacement of the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and his attitude to Alexander Syrsky, due to the extraordinary success of the Russians in the Kharkiv region, Zelensky said that the commander-in-chief faced a very serious challenge due to the delay in US military aid, when the vote in the American Congress on this issue took almost eight months.
“I don’t want to compare, I treat everyone with appropriate respect. Everyone performs or performs their task in their place. It is hard to say what would have happened if the leadership of the army had not changed. And I don’t want to talk about it. This is a question of conversation after the war. We must respect everyone and thank everyone who works and fights for Ukraine and defends our state. I would stop there,” said the president.
He added that he did not believe that “if anyone had been in Syrsky’s place, there would not have been equal success.”
“I think this (the Russian victory in the Kharkov region) happened because the Russians wanted it, they had a duty to enter and occupy Kharkov. The big plus in this situation, according to Syrsky, is that he knows Kharkov – and that’s a lot. He conquered that region. And the Kharkov region was under his command. But again, they didn’t let Kharkov to occupy without a package (US military aid) – great. And then we will deal with the details when we have a break,” Zelensky also said.
Mobilization
Zelensky said that the mobilization campaign in Ukraine is going according to plan, but there are not enough training bases.
“The military said, everything is going according to their plan. Regarding the training areas, not enough. If they can be expanded, the expansion is already underway. About whether it is possible to expand the base abroad – yes , and this is one of the decisions of the bilateral agreement with Poland,” said the president.
Regarding the relationship with the USA
Zelensky said that Ukraine is ready to cooperate with any political force in the United States, especially the Republican Party, if it is in power.
“Regarding the end of the war, what is the view of the potential president, one of the candidates for the position of President Trump: the general things are clear to me, I think that if Mr. Donald Trump becomes president, then we will work. I’m not afraid of that,” Zelensky stressed.
The Ukrainian president noted that there are different positions among the Republicans, including “more right-wing, radical.”
“But I want to tell you: the majority of the Republican Party supports Ukraine and the people of Ukraine,” he concluded.
Plan of the World
The plan for the implementation of all the points needed for the second peace summit will be ready in November.
“At the end of July – beginning of August there will be the first meeting at the level of the NSA (National Security Agency in the USA) of ministers and security advisors, as we promised after our peace summit. The first meeting will probably be in Qatar. This is for energy security,” Zelensky said at a press conference on July 15.
In August, a meeting will be held in Turkey on the subject of free navigation, where the issue of food security will be raised. In September, a meeting will be held in Canada on the humanitarian issue of the exchange of prisoners and the return of Ukrainian children, and a plan in this regard will also be developed.
“After these three points, if they work, a fully prepared plan for the implementation of all points will be ready, and I set the task so that in November we will have a fully prepared plan, Zelensky said.
The President clarified that in his opinion, Russian representatives should attend the second world summit.
