Yesterday evening, July 14, border guards stopped a car in which there were four people besides the driver. Two of the passengers started running in different directions, but one of them attacked a GNSU fighter. He was forced to use a weapon and shot the attacker. This was reported by the representative of the State Border Service Andrey Demchenko in a commentary to “Obshchestvenny”.
Doctors who arrived at the scene confirmed the death of the attacker and bodily injuries to the border guard. The State Tax Service noted that the information spread online that the border guard shot the fugitive in the back is untrue.
The State Bureau of Investigation reported that in the Zakharivsky district of Odessa region, four servicemen escaped from a training unit and tried to cross into Moldova on foot. In order to get to the border, the fugitives hired a taxi.
When they tried to cross the border, border guards noticed them and detained them. One of the fugitives attacked the border guard while trying to escape. In response, the latter used his service weapon and shot the attacker, the Bureau noted.
The incident was initially classified as abuse of power by a law enforcement officer, which resulted in grave consequences – Part 3 of Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Let us recall that on July 13, border guards discovered the body of the 17th drowned person since the beginning of the year on the border with Romania. The drowned person was a 33-year-old resident of Zakarpattia, who was trying to get to the neighboring country through the Tisza.
