The American leader condemned the assassination attempt on his political opponent from the Oval Office in the White House and noted the need to “lower the temperature” in politics. He called on Americans to unite. He also stressed that all acute political differences should be overcome through elections, not weapons.
Disagreement is inevitable in American democracy. It is part of human nature. But politics should never be a battlefield. And, God forbid, a killing field. The power to change America should always be in the hands of the people, not in the hands of a would-be killer, he said.
Biden also warned that US enemies have already launched a disinformation campaign to fan the flames of division and secure election results that benefit them.
As you know, the Republican Party convention will be held in Wisconsin today. Donald Trump will be officially elected as a presidential candidate at the event. Trump said he will attend the convention.
Recall that on July 13, 2024, at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, Donald Trump was shot at least five times. Trump was injured by one bullet, which pierced the upper part of his ear. Other bullets killed a 50-year-old man and wounded two others. The shooter was 20-year-old Thomas Crooks, who was eliminated by law enforcement.
