The alliance will not take a direct part in the Russian-Ukrainian war, but will continue to support Ukraine.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said the alliance is ready to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense, but without directly participating in the Russian-Ukrainian war. He said this on Sunday, July 14, in a telethon interview, commenting on Warsaw’s idea to shoot down Russian drones and missiles flying towards Poland in the sky over Ukraine.
“NATO will support Ukraine, and we have increased our support, including air defense but NATO’s policy remains unchanged – we will not join this conflict, we will not be part of this conflict,” the Alliance said Secretary General.
He added that NATO supports Ukraine in destroying the Russian aircraft, but the Alliance is not directly involved.
Let’s recall that on July 8, Ukraine and Poland signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of security between the countries. The possibility of shooting down missiles flying towards Poland was one of his points. Ukraine and Poland are developing a mechanism through which Polish air defenses will shoot down Russian missiles and drones, President Volodymyr Zelensky said. However, Poland has said it will not shoot down Russian missiles in the sky over Ukraine without a corresponding decision by all NATO members.
