The Ministry of Energy said on July 14 that a high-voltage overhead line was switched off due to a fire caused by the heat. In addition, a high-voltage substation was switched off at night. This led to a power outage on the overhead line connecting the energy systems of Ukraine and Moldova. Due to the heat, a fire broke out on the territory of the substation, which was extinguished.
Power engineers reminded that hot weather is continuing in Ukraine, so an increase in electricity consumption is possible, in particular, due to the active use of air conditioners.
The Ministry of Energy once again called for energy consumption to be economical. This allows energy workers to keep the energy system more stable.
The outages are not provided for critical infrastructure enterprises, as well as enterprises that import more than 80% of electricity for their needs, in accordance with the government decree.
The main reason for electricity restrictions is enemy attacks on energy infrastructure and the negative consequences of these attacks.
Forecasters predict that the heat in Ukraine will only intensify in the coming days. Temperatures of up to +41 °C are expected on July 15.
