The man was sitting on the roof of a manufacturing plant more than 119 meters from the stage, The New-York Post said.
The FBI considers the shooting an assassination attempt on Trump.
“Tonight we have what is being called an attempted assassination of our former President Donald Trump. This is an active crime scene,” said Kevin Rojack, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Pittsburgh Field Office.
He said authorities are “working diligently to try to identify the person who did this and any motive why it was done.”
Rojek also asked the public to provide any information that might help.
