With the ratification of the Rome Statute, Ukraine will have benefits, as it will become a full member of the ISS and will have new rights.

Ukraine continues work on ratifying the Rome Statute. Irina Mudra, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said this in an interview with the Voice of America.

Irina Mudra emphasized that she personally supports the ratification of the Rome Statute, an international treaty under which the International Criminal Court was established and operates, but Ukraine has not yet ratified.

“I know that the Prosecutor General supports this, as well as the relevant parliamentary committee I think we will do this together.

According to Mudra, the problems with the adoption are, in part, due to the fact that in recent years there have been no completely valid communication messages, and a false impression has been formed in this regard, which has taken root in the minds of military

The wrong attitude, as noted by Mudra, is that Ukraine supposedly ratified the Rome Charter, this will immediately be the basis for bringing the military and leadership of Ukraine to justice at the International Criminal Court. But Mudra said that from a legal point of view this is a false statement, because Ukraine, in 2014 and 2015, received two statements recognizing the jurisdiction of the ISS.

“That is, in fact, we have recognized its jurisdiction that the ISS can hold our citizens accountable for what we have begun to do,” he said.

Irina Mudra added that with the ratification of the Rome Statute, Ukraine will have benefits, as it will become a full participant in the ISS and will have new rights.

“We will also have the right, in particular, to nominate our own judge to the ISS Also, Ukraine will be able to participate in the conference of participants, that is, the influence on the processes will be an impetus for unity Now I am working with military to dispel their fears, doubts and disprove previously formed false impressions,” said the OP representative.

It was previously reported that the OP discussed the ratification of the Rome Statute.
