French President Emmanuel Macron will accept the resignation of Prime Minister Gabriel Attal on Tuesday, July 16, after the last government meeting. France Info wrote this with reference to its own sources on Friday, July 12.
The decision to resign was made at a meeting at the Elysee Palace on Friday.
The reasons for the resignation were not specified, however, according to media reports, Attal plans to lead the faction of the pro-presidential Renaissance party in the National Assembly after early elections.
The new session of the lower house of the French parliament begins on July 18.
The resignation would allow the head of government and elected ministers to sit down and participate in secret ballots.
Let us remind you that Attal on Sunday, July 7, announced that he was resigning. He made this decision after the announcement of the exit poll results of the second round of the parliamentary elections.
However, the French President called on the head of government to ensure stability and not submit his resignation “yet.”
