    .

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported this today, July 12.

The modernization of the device took place in St. Petersburg at the facilities of the “Kanonersky Ship Repair Plant” since 2017. The carrier of the “AS-36” was the rescue ship of the Northern Fleet of Russia “Mikhail Rudnitsky”, – the GUR reported.

It is noted that at the moment of the deep-sea vehicle’s descent into the water, Rudnitsky’s crew lost control, which led to a collision between the ship’s hull and the AS-36.

“As a result of the incident, the Russian deep-sea vehicle sustained damage that does not allow further testing,” the GUR noted. “The Russians are currently assessing the damage and the time needed to repair the AS-36.”
