Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen also called for strengthening Ukrainian air defense. She made a corresponding statement at the NATO summit in Washington. This was reported by the Voice of America.
We decided many months ago to give all our artillery to Ukraine. Why? Because it will be used better in Ukraine than in Denmark. And now we must do the same with air defense, – said the Danish prime minister.
As is known, since the beginning of the full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine, Denmark has been providing military assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In particular, in February of this year, the Danish government decided to transfer all of its artillery to the Ukrainian army – 19 Caesar self-propelled artillery units.
Let us recall that US President Joe Biden announced the transfer of an additional Patriot system to Ukraine at the opening of the NATO summit in Washington. Two more Patriots will be provided by Germany and Romania. The Netherlands will assemble one system together with other partners. Italy will transfer SAMP-T to Ukraine. And in the following months, Ukraine will receive NASAMS, HAWK, IRIS-T and Gepard air defense systems.
