This was reported by Bloomberg, citing informed sources.
It is noted that these intentions are a continuation of the first summit, which took place in mid-June in Switzerland with the participation of representatives of more than 90 countries. Russia was not invited there.
The efforts to arrange a meeting ahead of the US election indicate a sense of urgency on Ukraine’s part as it faces the prospect of Donald Trump’s return to the White House, the newspaper notes.
Bloombrg recalls that Trump previously stated that if he wins, he will end the war before his inauguration in January and spoke out against continued US military support for Kyiv.
It is noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking recently at the Reagan Institute in Washington, called on the United States to help organize the second peace summit in order to make it “more powerful and truly decisive.”
However, Bloomberg’s sources among American officials said they were not sure that the summit on Russia and Ukraine would take place.
