This military conflict “will require years of focused effort” because the aggressor country Russia “certainly” will be able to sustain life in a war economy for at least another three to four years, a top NATO official said during the 75th summit in Washington, Voice of America reports.
According to him, after Russia switches to a military footing, the long-term consequences will be tangible and significant for the Russian economy. However, the Alliance believes that Russians are ready for the kind of life that the dictatorship has imposed on them.
Ultimately, we all have to be prepared to continue to support Ukraine even after 2025. We all understand very well, and as we have been saying for a long time, this is not a conflict that is likely to end soon, the unnamed official noted.
Let us recall that the results of the poll conducted by the Razumkov Center sociological service showed that 24% of respondents believe that Ukraine will win the war by the end of 2024. Approximately 38% of Ukrainians believe that Ukraine will win in a year or two. Another 15% of respondents believe that this will take more time – two or three years, and 5% voted for five years. Another 1% expressed pessimistic views, that is, they answered that “it is unlikely in my lifetime.”
