This was reported today, July 9, by the press services of the State Bureau of Investigation and the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to the investigation, the oligarch, accompanied by his close relative, left on June 24 on the Kyiv-Chelm train, although according to Ukrainian databases, he did not cross the border.
During urgent procedural actions, it was established that Gennady Bogolyubov left the country using an invalid passport of a Ukrainian citizen who was physically located in Ukraine and did not leave the country, the State Bureau of Investigation notes.
The Prosecutor General’s Office noted that the businessman used a Ukrainian passport to travel, which was lost in 2022, and the State Customs Service of Ukraine was notified of this.
It is noted that the detained border guard – the head of one of the groups of border control inspectors of the Yagodin border service inspectors department of the Lutsk border detachment – handed over the passengers’ documents to his subordinate and assured that he had already personally checked the compartment where Bogolyubov and his relative were located.
At the same time, the oligarch has already shown his personal Ukrainian passport to Polish border guards for travel abroad, the State Bureau of Investigation reported.
Thus:
- the oligarch and border guard were reported as suspected of illegally transporting persons across the state border (Part 2 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code);
- Bogolyubov was also reported on suspicion of illegal seizure of a passport (Part 3 of Article 357 of the Criminal Code).
The article’s sanction provides for a punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 7 years, – the State Bureau of Investigation notes. – The border guard was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention with the alternative of posting bail in the amount of 25 million UAH.
Let us recall that recently the media reported that 62-year-old Bogolyubov left Ukraine using forged documents.
