The new British Defense Minister said his country is Ukraine’s strongest friend and is capable of further increasing support for Kyiv.
President Vladimir Zelensky on Sunday, July 7, met with the new British Defense Minister John Healey and discussed the preparation of a centenary future agreement between Ukraine and the United Kingdom. This was reported by the presidential press service.
It is known that the meeting was also attended by Chief of the British Defense Staff Anthony Radakin.
The parties discussed the implementation of the security agreement and preparations for signing a new one – a cooperation document between the two countries that is valid for 100 years, as well as bilateral cooperation and meeting the urgent needs of our country in arms and ammunition.
Particular attention was paid to the preparations for the anniversary of the NATO summit in Washington and the summit of the European Political Community.
John Healy emphasized that the United Kingdom will continue to support Ukraine.
“You have Ukraine’s strongest friend in the UK. We have an opportunity to further increase support for Ukraine,” he said.
Let’s remember that on Sunday Zelensky also spoke about plans to strengthen the Ukrainian fleet together with Britain and the Netherlands.
As you know, on January 12, Ukraine and Great Britain signed a security agreement, which Zelensky called “unprecedented.”
And in May it became known that Ukraine and Britain were preparing an agreement on a 100-year partnership.
