The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence will be headed by supporters of Ukraine. In particular, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was headed by David Lemmy, and John Gilley was appointed head of the Defence Department. The British Prime Minister announced this on July 5 on the social network X.
Both newly appointed top officials have previously visited Kyiv. They once assured that if the Labourites came to power, the British government would continue to support Ukraine.
“I am deeply honoured to have been appointed Secretary of State for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs. The world faces great challenges, but we will meet them by building on Britain’s great strengths. We will unite Britain for our security and prosperity at home,” Lemmy said today.
Let us recall that the opposition Labour Party led by Keir Starmer won the parliamentary elections in the UK. Rishi Sunak has already resigned as Prime Minister, and King Charles III appointed Starmer as the new head of government. He was given the authority to form a government on behalf of His Majesty.
