After contacting the police, law enforcement officers announced suspicion to the former head of the Pechersk organization of the Red Cross and one of the volunteers. Law enforcement officers learned that the former official allegedly appropriated humanitarian aid for the above-mentioned amount. Food sets, bed linen, blankets, mattresses, wheelchairs, bandages, rubber gloves and syringes disappeared. This was reported on July 4 by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
During the investigation it became known that the former volunteer of this organization had conspired with as yet unidentified people and was selling counterfeit Red Cross volunteer certificates. In addition, the offender allegedly illegally used the organization’s symbols on his own car.
Let us recall that in October last year it became known that the State Customs Service together with the Ministry of Defense checked over 9 thousand cases of movement of humanitarian aid goods to 200 military units in nine months. And in more than 3 thousand cases the receipt of aid to the military was not confirmed.
