The New York Times states that according to this plan, different European countries will provide different parts of the battery of such a complex.
European officials are trying to assemble a Patriot battery from spare parts scattered across the continent so it can be shipped to Ukraine. The New York Times reported it.
“The radar and three missile launchers are provided by the Netherlands. Some interceptor missiles are provided by a coalition of four countries led by Germany. A mobile fire control center has been promised, but where or by whom, officials are not yet said.
Over the past few months, Ukraine’s allies have been combing through their arsenals and settled on a creative, if not foolproof, way to build another Patriot system: build a complete system from spare parts that collected throughout Europe.
“We have all the pieces of the puzzle. We just need to put them together… We all have limited capabilities… But if we join forces, I think we can make it happen,” said former Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren , who made this plan after Ukraine’s request for seven systems.
He agreed that some parts might not work right away.
The official did not specify when the assembled Patriot battery would be delivered to Ukraine. He suggested that he could also send in parts to replace anything that might be broken.
Let’s recall that the Financial Times reported that the United States could provide Ukraine with up to eight batteries for the Patriot air defense system, which is currently in Israel.
In addition, Romania announced the transfer of Patriot to Ukraine. The Netherlands also announced the transfer of the Patriot to Ukraine.
