The drones hit one of the electrical substations. Eight Zaporizhzhya NPP workers were injured, one of the victims required medical assistance. The attack also caused an oil leak from at least one of the substation’s two transformers, damaging the top of one of them, as well as a connecting line. This was reported by the IAEA press service.
The damaged Raduga substation is out of action, but Energodar and the nearby industrial zone are still receiving power. This substation is a vital part of the power generation, transmission and distribution system.
It is noted that “Raduga” is located outside the Zaporizhzhya NPP site itself. IAEA representatives do not report any consequences at the site.
International Atomic Energy Agency Director Rafael Mariano Grossi said repeated drone attacks pose a threat to nuclear safety and human life and must be stopped.
Let us recall that in May, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence published evidence that the Russian army was using kamikaze drones over the nuclear reactors of the occupied Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant.
