Russia cannot agree to a ceasefire because it is not confident in Ukraine’s response, the Russian dictator explained.
The aggressor country Russia was not the first to cease fire in Ukraine. He is also unhappy with potential mediators to start peace negotiations. This statement was made by the head of the Russian regime, Vladimir Putin, at the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Astana on Thursday, July 4.
According to him, Russia cannot agree to a ceasefire because it is not confident in Ukraine’s response.
“We need to make sure that the other side (Ukraine – ed.) agrees to take steps that are irreversible and acceptable to the Russian Federation. A ceasefire without reaching this agreement is impossible,” he said .
He resumed the old song about “demilitarization” as one of the conditions for ending the aggressive war against the Ukrainian people.
Putin also noted that he does not want to negotiate through mediators.
“We are always in favor of negotiations, you know this, we have not rejected them. The only question is that it seems unlikely that I will end the conflict (the war in Ukraine – ed.) with the help of mediators. and only because of them ,” – he says.
Regarding the words of US presidential candidate Donald Trump about his intentions to end the war in Ukraine as soon as possible, Putin said that Moscow “takes such statements seriously.” At the same time, the Russian dictator seems unfamiliar with Trump’s specific proposals.
Earlier, President Vladimir Zelensky announced a likely model of negotiations with the Russian Federation. We are talking about mediation between countries, as in grain corridor agreements. The head of state also named two possible mediators.
Afterwards, the Kremlin said that Russia was “open to dialogue” with Ukraine.
