Russia’s war against Ukraine is inherently a colonial war that could last for years until Moscow understands that starting its aggression against its neighbor was a mistake, the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry believes.
It is necessary not to push Kyiv in negotiations with Moscow, but to increase military assistance to Ukraine so that the country can regain all the occupied territories. Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said this on Wednesday, July 3, during the geopolitical dialogue under the auspices of Foreign Policy, Ukrinform reports.
The head of the Polish Foreign Ministry emphasized that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin could stop the war in five minutes if he gave the order to the Minister of Defense to withdraw all troops from Ukraine.
“But we should not tell Ukraine what to do until the Ukrainians return all the occupied territories Because what the Russians are doing in the occupied territories, we cannot tolerate in our countries,” said Sikorsky .
The head of the Polish Foreign Ministry added that Russia cannot be trusted, because in 2004 Putin signed a bilateral agreement with Ukraine and now he himself is violating it.
“If you say we have to negotiate, that means we have to allow Putin to ignore the agreement he made and trust that he won’t violate the new agreement. In my opinion, it doesn’t look reliable,” the Polish official added.
Let’s recall that Putin said he seems ready for “peaceful negotiations” with Ukraine. But to do this, the Ukrainians must withdraw their troops from four regions, which in Russia are called new regions. Ukraine should also abandon the prospect of NATO membership.
In turn, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky compared Putin’s proposal to Hitler’s Nazism.
