According to the company’s press service, we can expect the following innovations:
The term “rigid construction” is no longer used in the description of carriers – now you can use a backpack for animals “with a waterproof absorbent bottom only”.
For babies up to 45 cm at the withers, temporary stay without a carrier is allowed – for healthy activity and/or sleeping on the compartment shelf.
Large dogs over 45 cm will also be allowed to travel in SV and RIC carriages, provided that the compartment is fully purchased, as well as in Intercity+, if the owner purchases all the seats located in a single block in a row.
Any service dogs of the defence forces will be able to travel free of charge in all types of carriages – with a muzzle and leash.
The new rules will come into force when they are approved by the State Regulatory Service of Ukraine.
Ukrzaliznytsia reported that Ukrainians love to travel with their pets, because in the first six months of this year, 112,185 animals have already been transported on trains – that is how many tickets for pets were purchased through the mobile application and website.
Most often, people travel with animals to Kharkov by Intercity+ trains: the largest number of tailed, feathered and other pets over the past six months were transported on trains No. 722/723 Kyiv-Kharkov and No. 724/725 Kyiv-Kharkov.
In third place is an unexpected message: from Kyiv to Krivoy Rog on train No. 76, 1,748 animals traveled in six months.
