The Hungarian Prime Minister asked Zelensky to consider a ceasefire before the start of potential peace talks.

Any state with influence or role must make every effort to ensure the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine. This is what Deputy Representative of the US State Department Vedant Patel said in a briefing on Tuesday, July 2.

The representative of the State Department emphasized that the United States and NATO believe that the only correct solution is the withdrawal of Russian occupation forces from the territory of Ukraine.

“The Russian Federation should just leave,” Patel said, commenting on Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s proposal for a ceasefire in Ukraine.

He emphasized that Russia is an aggressor, violating the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and disregarding the UN Charter.

“I will leave it to the countries concerned to speak about their policies, but we have made it clear to partners and allies around the world that any state with influence or role must make every effort to ensure the full removal of Russia from Ukraine,” said a US State Department spokesman.

Orban arrived in Kyiv on the morning of July 2 for an unannounced visit. It was his first trip to Ukraine after the start of a full-scale Russian war.
